Akha youth: No homeland, nor future
Stuck between the rejection of their own culture and their stateless status linked to their parents precarious situation, a majority of young Akha are now in a difficult position. How to move forward when studies do not lead to any recognized degree? When its own religion is questioned and the temptation of easy money gangrene all in the golden triangle?
The Thai state did not build schools, Christian missionaries did it. A deal had been clearly offered by the state, especially in the poorest villages : the construction of schools for the destruction of their altars and symbols. Religious conversion is also at the heart of this destructive deal. The preachers take care of it : a true indoctrination that pull the young Akha away from their rituals assimilated by the missionaries to the devil ways.
