Faï is an Akha, the people with whom I spend several months a year.
Faï has had a very unusual fate. Her parents converted to Islam and went to live in Malaysia and Fai went with them. Once there she couldn't fathom a future for herself. Faï's parents new religion didn't allow her to live by her own criteria, her dreams of emancipation and freedom. She then came back to Chiang Mai. Try your luck.
She let me photograph her during her work hours in an hostess bar. Surprised, kind, touched that I was interested by her life and choices. She told me a little about the cost of her freedom. Her life is not of same pink than her undies.
